Catharina & Göran’s Autumn Wedding in Sweden
When a bride and groom truly know how they want their wedding day to be, it really shows on the day. This autumn wedding with its breath taking deep hues all put together by the couple with help from their family and friends looks natural, soft and beautiful. Of course it takes a talented photographer to capture it in such a stunning way and that photographer is Anna Lauridsen of Kullafoto.We’re lucky to have the bride tell us more about their wedding day. Our vision for the wedding was that it should be rustic, “autumn-y” and intimate, in a beautiful place that has an atmosphere that we felt was “us”, and that we have a relation to. Arild’s Vineyard is beautifully positioned on the Kulla peninsula in southern Sweden and even in the region of where we live. Here, we usually go for lovely walks with our Labrador Aston and we love the stunning surroundings by the sea and the magnificent landscape. It also felt a bit unique to marry at a Swedish winery, which also has a really good wine and booming wine production.

On our wedding day, there were a magical mist that lay over the vines in the cultures and the air was fresh and a little autumn-crisp.
We wanted a civil ceremony outdoors at the winery and we got just the nice feeling and intimacy we wished for with our guests. Overall, we were about fifty people. Since we wanted to get married in the fall, it often feels a bit unpredictable given the weather, especially in October, when it can turn from pleasant late summer to really chill of autumn. We had written in the invitation to our guests that the wedding
ceremony would be held outdoors and the choice of attire would be “autumny and warm”. The Autumn-theme we had with us from the beginning and we were thinking about this from the choice of attire and flowers to food and styles of invitations and menus. At the bridal-toast, we toasted in hot apple cider and guests mingled around among the vines and in the Orangery where the dinner was held in the evening lit by votives.
We did a lot ourselves in part to keep our strict budget, but also because it was fun to do. We did not want it to feel to overworked but still beautiful and atmospheric. Our favourite colours orange and grey permeated the entire wedding. The invitations, as a friend helped us with, layout was in grey and orange, our clothes were in shades of grey and flowers on the tables and menus were mainly in these colours. The table setting was classic and simple and three-course menu composed we together with Arild’s Vineyard with a harvest theme. My mother helped with decorations,
such as a large heart of iron chains that she made and covered with flowers. We got help from the family to decorate the place for the wedding ceremony with fall flowers, such as flowering artichokes and sunflowers. The bridal bouquet was a large bunch of “wild garden flowers “. It was composed by myself with the help of a local florist and also got the rustic, autumny feeling. Having live music did a lot for the atmosphere and festive feeling and is something we absolutely recommend. That they played ” our songs ” in a really personal way was something we appreciate and remember.
We had a fantastic live band in the evening, also played some of our favourite songs during the ceremony, Tiny dancer by Elton John and The Wedding Song by Bob Dylan.
